And Then There Was Four

Yep! That’s definitely double you’re seeing. I’ll get to that later though.

After taking the pregnancy test, we called the doctor to schedule an appointment…only to find out that we would have to wait until I was at least 8 weeks before I could be seen. Really? I have to wait an entire month just for you to confirm that I am pregnant? Yep! The nurse gave my husband some mumbo jumbo as to why I couldn’t come in earlier than 8 weeks and that was that.

The plan was to confirm my pregnancy before we told our parents. How could I keep such a big secret from them for a MONTH though? I had some deciding to do!

I decided to go ahead and share the news with me mom (video of that coming in the next post). She’s my best friend. I couldn’t contain the secret any longer. Needless to say, she was stoked about becoming a grandmother.

When 8 weeks finally arrive we got to go visit the doctor. We had 2 appointments. One for my ultrasound and the other to meet my doctor for the first time.

My ultrasound was exciting…..well for the most part. I had no stomach at the time so the baby had to be viewed “another way.” I stared at the screen waiting for the image of our baby to show. I tilted my head to the side and said “Is that what I think it is?” The nurse replies with “Yep, your having twins!”

Huh? What do you mean TWINS? Can you imagine the shock that would bring to anyone. Not only are we having to get used to having one new baby, but TWO? This took a while to sink in. Walt actually stood up from his chair to take a closer look and added an “Are you serious?”

Looking back at the situation, finding out that we were having twins was more than I ever expected, but we are extremely excited about it. So was the rest of the family. We firmly believe that this is the greatest gift from God and he’s not going to give us more than we can handle! I can not wait to be a mama!

Bring on thing 1 and thing 2!!!
