Happy Birthday to Me!
WARNING: long post ahead!
I guess it’s safe to say that my birthday celebration officially began Thursday night. I really wanted a low key birthday this year, because I wanted my focus to be on the twins. They are my everything and I just really didn’t want to make a big deal out of my day.
But who listens to me anyways? That’s right….no one! I was SPOILED ROTTEN the entire weekend. I am really blessed to have such wonderful friends and family in my life.
Usually when I come home from work during the week, my routine is to immediately go upstairs and change clothes so that I can relax on the couch for the evening and enjoy some good television. When I arrived home on last Thursday, for some odd reason….I refused to go upstairs. I was already on my feet and wanted to cook dinner before I had the chance to relax. My husband was particularly annoyed by this for some reason and I couldn’t understand why. Why do you want me to go upstairs and change so badly? I’m cooking dinner for YOU!
After about an hour and a half…I finally finished cooking and proceeded upstairs. When I arrived in the room, it was bare. Every single piece of furnature that existed in our bedroom was gone. OMG!! Have we been robbed? No way. Can’t be. Where the hell is my flippin’ bed? The only memory of my furniture that was left in the room was the imprints in the carpet of where the old furniture used to lie.
To my surprise…the furniture had been picked up and donated to Goodwill and NEW furniture was set to arrive that very evening. SAY WHAT? New furniture? I could just die. 😀
Here is the new bed and nightstand:
And the new dresser and tv stand (please excuse me in the mirror, it’s the only way I could ge the picture) hehehe
Friday was a busy day. We had doctors appointments, ultasounds, and then 3 hours of lamaze (healthy childbirth) class. Same thing went for Saturday. A full day of classes. I will say that I learned a ton in lamaze class and I feel more prepared going into labor. I highly recommend it for first time parents like ourselves.
We got out of class a couple of hours early, and decided to treat ourselves to a mani-pedi and some sushi (my favorite). And no worries…I’ve been cleared to eat sushi by my doctor – as long as it’s fully cooked. P.S. – I don’t eat raw sushi anyways. 😉
Here’s the color I’m current rockin’ (I’d been getting a lot of compliments on it and I have to give credit to Walt for picking out the color). Fierce isn’t it?
And here is the sushi we ate. I love me some Lobster Rolls:
We ended up going home after this because we (meaning I) wanted to take a nap and watch the NBA All-Star dunk contest.
Sunday we went to church in the morning and spent the afternoon with the Williamses. You’ll probably here me talk about them a lot on this blog in the future. They are our closest freinds with whom we attended church with every Sunday. They are expecting their own bundle of joy this coming September. YAY for play dates.
After church we went to the mall where we splurged on MORE baby clothes, followed that up with a birthday lunch at Carrabba’s Italian Grill and then went to the movies to watch “Good Deeds” by Tyler Perry (great film btw). It was a nice relaxing day with our friends.
Monday finally came. It was my birthday. I took the day off of work to take care of some errands and get my hair done. Walt has been begging me to do so throughout the pregnancy. I’ve been so lazy tired these past 8 months that I’ve worn my hair in its natural state (which is very curly). It’s easier for me to do the old wash-n-go, rather then stand in front of a mirror for 2 hours blow drying and straightening my hair. I just didn’t have the patience.
So in honor of Dominican Independence Day (not really) I went to a Dominican Salon and let them to the work for me. Best decision I ever made. My hair came out beautifully. Again, I haven’t seen my hair straight in almost 8 months and I had no clue how long it would be. I’m proud to say that’s it’s almost back where it was when I was in high school. Thank you prenatal vitamins! 😀
Here is a couple snaps of the new do:
and one more:
That evening I ate dinner with my two favorite people…my husband and my mom and Provino’s. For those of you who live in Georgia…you get to eat free on your birthday! They have really good italian food!
And when I got home…I was surprised with my favorite cupcakes. Camicakes! A whole dozen of them. Not sure who’s going to eat all those (who an I kidding) but it’s worth a try.
After a great day I finished the day off with a night cap:
Been a little under the weather these past few days and it was needed.
All in all…..I had a great birthday weekend. So much for keeping it low key, but I am so blessed by all the love that was shown to me by my friends and family. I guess I had to go out with a bang since this will be the very last birthday that is all about me.
Here’s to celebrating another year of life and the two new lives that will be joining us in just 5 1/2 weeks (or less) 😉
Hope your week is off to a great start as well!
